strapes and clevis pins regularly for any signs of damage, fatigue or rust.

looking for damage and chaffed insulation. Be sure terminals are free of corrosion
and fitting tightly. A good idea is to unspool the cable after each outing looking for kinks,
frays or any damage. Always lubricate the cable and chain before storing away until
the next use.
